Description

Job Summary

The University of Leeds wishes to appoint an experienced Evaluation Consultant to monitor and report on the Development Phase of the Dialect and Heritage: More than Words project and to research, develop and write the Evaluation Framework for the Delivery Phase application.

Job Description

Our project will get people of all ages using and talking to each other about dialect. We will harness the power of dialect and local heritage to increase people's wellbeing and sense of pride in self, place and community across England. Working with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders from different sectors and complementary projects, libraries, museums and schools, we will deliver an ambitious programme of interactive public engagement events, co-created outreach activities, exhibitions, and creative commissions, informed by cutting-edge dialect research, and building on the successes of our recent work and assets. We will develop participation and education opportunities (citizen science dialect detectives, dialect surveys, digital storytelling, volunteering, training and skills-building, making and transcribing oral history recordings) for people from a range of backgrounds and age groups, including hard-to-reach audiences and those experiencing isolation.

Job Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Evaluation Consultant with a proven track record of evaluating National Lottery Heritage Fund projects, developing logic model evaluation frameworks, and working within the heritage, museum, archive or cultural sectors. The successful candidate will have expertise in mixed-method evaluation, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, volunteer and community participation, and translating complex outcomes into clear, actionable evidence of impact. This work may take 20-30 days to complete but this is indicative rather than prescriptive.

Job Responsibilities

The Evaluation Consultant will be responsible for leading the design, delivery and reporting of evaluation activity for the Development Phase of the project and for developing a comprehensive evaluation framework for the proposed Delivery Phase.

Development Phase Evaluation
Design and implement an evaluation methodology aligned with the project's aims, the National Lottery Heritage Fund Investment Principles, and recognised evaluation best practice.
Monitor and assess progress throughout the Development Phase, identifying areas for improvement, sustainability and efficiency.
Design and oversee data collection processes across the project partnership using qualitative and quantitative methods.
Assess changes, outcomes and emerging impacts during the Development Phase.
Evaluate engagement, inclusivity, partnership working, consultation processes and organisational needs.
