Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a Duty Technician for our 2025 season, to assist the day-to-day running of the Lighting and Sound departments for our busy and varied season of shows at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Job Description

The primary function of the Duty Technician is to run the daily
repertory changeovers of the lighting and sound stage elements
between our daytime family show performances and evening
musical performances. The majority of hours for this contract are
daytime (between 8.30am and 4.30pm), Monday to Sunday with
Thursdays off.
To change over any lighting, sound and music elements each day between
the daytime family show and the evening musical performances.
To rig check the sound system and fault find any issues that arise.
To assist the Head of Sound and Sound #2 with any radio mic maintenance.
To assist the visiting Stage Management, Stage, Technical Staff and
Musicians with their set up and strike for performances each day and
problem solve any technical issues as they arise.
To complete any basic maintenance or emergency repairs as required,
advising the Heads of Lighting and Sound if any repairs require additional
support before the following performance.

To assist the Heads of Lighting and Sound with any other technical
department duties, as required.
To maintain the stage and backstage areas, keeping them safe, clean and
tidy at all times.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Technical
Heads of Department or senior management.

Job Requirements

Person Specification:

Essential
Previous experience working backstage in professional technical theatre,
preferably within a similar-sized venue or production company or tour.
Demonstrable ability to perform the duties listed above including proven
understanding of the specific hazards involved in working outdoors.
Calm, organised and tactful approach.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working.
Ability to be creative and resourceful in problem solving.
Awareness and experience of health and safety legislation.
Experience of and comfort with working at height.
A passion for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and the work we produce.
An understanding and commitment to diversity, inclusion and access.
