Job Summary

We are looking for a Duty Manager who thrives in fast-paced, creative environments and brings both professionalism and personality to the role. Experience leading a team in a cultural or live performance setting; organised, communicative, and committed.

Job Description

Salary: £16,200 per year (pro rata, based on a full-time salary of £27,000)

Contract: Part Time, Permanent

Work Hours: 24 hours per week

Overtime: Any additional hours worked beyond the contracted 24 hours per week will be paid at the overtime hourly rate as agreed with management

Annual Leave: 17 days per year (including bank holidays), pro rata based on a full-time entitlement of 29 days

Our Duty Managers are central to creating an atmosphere that feels dynamic, welcoming, and uniquely ours. They lead the Front of House team on duty, making sure every audience member, artist, and visitor has the best experience possible - from the first hello to the last drink at the bar. They also keep the building running smoothly, working closely with the General Manager to ensure operations reflect our brand values and commitment to excellence.

Job Requirements

  • Previous duty management or supervisory experience in a Front of House environment, ideally within a theatre or arts space
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills; able to work calmly under pressure and adapt to changing demands

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven customer service skills and a commitment to delivering an excellent audience experience

  • Ability to exercise initiative, take responsibility, and resolve issues independently

  • Collaborative, proactive, and solution-focused, with excellent attention to detail and reliability

  • Flexible in relation to duties and working hours, including evenings and weekends, responding to organisational needs

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and procedures

  • Competent in basic IT applications and experience with Box Office ticketing system

Job Responsibilities

Building Operations: Act as keyholder, ensuring the building is safe, clean, compliant, and ready for shows, hires, and events. Report maintenance issues and support sustainability initiatives

Show Operations: Lead FOH staff, oversee bar, ticketing, and merchandise, manage incidents, liaise with hires and teams, and maintain public spaces

Staff Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate FOH team, prepare rotas, and uphold professional standards

Customer Service: Deliver excellent audience, artist, and visitor experiences, handling queries and complaints effectively

Finance & Administration: Reconcile sales, manage stock, record staff hours, and support financial reporting

Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with safety, fire, licensing, and accessibility procedures, conducting risk assessments and emergency response
