Coalesce Dance Theatre is developing a new rural touring show for children and families, building upon the success of their past work The Old Green Time Machine, and their latest theatre production Mika and the Polar Bear. With intergenerational stories gathered from sea-faring communities around the English coastline, this original new story from Coalesce Dance Theatre, will combine local heritage and children's dance theatre to explore relationships with the sea, both past and present, and how we can take care of our oceans. Job Description
Set sail on an adventure of a lifetime to find out what's happened to our beloved sea. In order to restore balance, the tales of the past, and possibilities of the future must come together in this exciting new show for children and families.
During summer 2026 CDT will be undertaking research co-creation with communities in Suffolk, Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire to develop the story and direction for this new work. Job Requirements
R&D dates; 10th -14th of August. Applicants must be available for all dates stipulated. Our working hours would be 9-5pm.
This opportunity is paid above ITC minimum per day. Travel is paid in addition. No accommodation costs are available for this project, and as such, CDT are only accepting applications from artists based in the North West.
Location for R&D is Z-arts Hulme, Manchester.Job Responsibilities
- A versatile performer to join them for 5 studio days in August to begin developing character, movement and sound.
- They must be a strong contemporary dancer, who has experience working in rural touring or unusual setting, as well as presenting and delivering work for children and families.
- They need to be a creative person, who is comfortable with acting and character work.
- We are particularly interested in hearing from dancers who also have a strong background in music and/or singing.
