Nurture emerging dance talent whilst building essential skills in youth support, administration, and marketing in this paid 12-month internship.

Job Description

Training bursary: £25,686 (equivalent to net amount earning £14.80 per hour)
Duration: 12 months
Working hours: 40 hours per week (inclusive of 1 hour lunch break per day)
Working pattern: Tuesday-Saturday during term time / Monday-Friday during academic holidays

The Place, London's creative powerhouse for dance development, has been leading the way in dance training, creation and performance for over 50 years. The Place's Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) is part of a national intensive dance programme for 11-18-year-olds who display exceptional potential and passion for dance.

The trainee will assist in the delivery of the CAT programme at The Place. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the CAT management team and support the administration and delivery of the programme, including the pastoral care of CAT students, learning the necessary skills required for supporting a busy youth vocational training programme.

The trainee will work closely with our expert CAT team to hone a range of skills including: organisation and time management strategies, youth safeguarding, copywriting, social media and marketing, minute-taking, and youth support.

As this trainee will be working with under 18s, an Enhanced DBS check is required for any person taking on this traineeship. The Place will cover the costs of this check if the successful candidate does not have a check already.

Job Requirements

Knowledge of the dance sectors and or dance education
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Basic IT skills
Experience working/interacting with children (aged 10+)
Interest in developing a career in dance education administration

Job Responsibilities

Support the CAT Team on programme delivery days and performance events.
Be a point of contact for teaching assistants, in relation to time off, scheduling, training and cover.
Liaise with the CAT Physical Therapy Team, organising student appointments for screenings, conditioning sessions and follow-up appointments.
Help to create marketing material for CAT projects.
Report any serious pastoral and/or safeguarding concerns to management or a safeguarding officer in line with The Place's safeguarding policies and procedures.
Help deliver student tutorials where needed.
Create forms for the purposes of data collection.
Help to create, maintain and update relevant databases.
Support the CAT Team in registration of students and monitoring of student attendance, ensuring they attend all relevant classes/appointments in line with Individual Training Plans.
Assist with student finance enquiries.
Draft copy for and assist in the promotion and marketing of CAT Programmes through The Place web
