You will be responsible for the effective operation and strategic development of Curatorial and Technical work for the service. You will provide leadership to the Curatorial & Technical Team, ensuring effective delivery of its busy and varied program. You will ensure performance measures are met with regard to management of the collection and you will play a leading role in supporting activity across the service, for example income generation, audience development and learning programs, ensuring that quality and impact can be demonstrated at all times. You will ensure that collections are safe, secure, and accessible to the public and that required standards are met, and that technical work is undertaken to a high standard and meets the needs of the whole service. Your team will work collaboratively and creatively with a range of partners and colleagues to maximise access to the collections. You will take a strategic lead in future developments including collections rationalisation, development of the Digital Museum, development of the sites and community focused projects. You will lead on all aspects of Collections Management including care and conservation, documentation, and curatorial awareness across the service. You will work as part of the Museums & Galleries Management team contributing to the strategic direction of the service, Council priorities of Economic Resilience and Health and Wellbeing and you will support colleagues and projects as necessary. Leads on all aspects of technical management including the commissioning or provision of design, transport, installation, and equipment. Develops and oversees implementation of the Collections Development Policy. Oversees all the team's systems and processes including health and safety, and emergency planning relating to collections. Oversees exhibition programmes ensuring they are well planned, delivered to high standards, evaluated, and have maximum impact. Leads on the redisplay of permanent exhibitions and galleries. Oversees the commissioning and co-ordination of guest curators, designers, and exhibition specialists, including the writing of briefs and specifications.
