As Curator (Deutsche Borse Photography Foundation Prize), you will research, curate and deliver exhibitions at The Photographers' Gallery that align with the strategic vision and appeal to broad audiences. An important part of this role includes administrating and curating the annual Deutsche Borse Photography Foundation Prize, managing the process throughout including the exhibition, catalogue and international tour, and building and maintaining a strong relationship with our key partner, the Deutsche Borse Photography Foundation. The Deutsche Borse Photography Foundation Prize is a highlight of The Photographers' Gallery programme and an important part of the photography ecosystem, more information on the Prize can be found on our website. Working within the Exhibitions team, you will be line managed by the Head of Exhibitions and work alongside the Director, Head of Exhibitions, Curator, Curator (Photography & Technologies), and Assistant Curator. Experience of curating exhibitions working as the project leader and/or experience of working in a museum or gallery leading on projects
Experience writing and editing exhibition catalogues and acting as editor. Experience working with partners, funders / sponsors on major exhibition projects
Experience fundraising and working with patrons
Experience managing budgets
Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely for broad audiences
Excellent public speaking skills
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with people internally and externally
Good IT skills and experience using Office 365 & a willingness to learn how to use other software
Basic knowledge of German language desired but not essential Job Responsibilities
Identify and research artists/photographers for both solo and group shows
Work with the Director, Head of Exhibitions and wider team to develop the exhibitions programme
Build a national / international network of touring partners & collaborators
Lead on the curatorial development, management and delivery of exhibitions that will engage with broad & diverse current and potential audiences
Build and maintain excellent relationships with partners, including the Deutsche Borse Photography Foundation
Research / negotiate loans and manage all communication with artists, jury members, lenders & other contributors
Contribute to writing and negotiating contractual arrangements with all parties involved in producing and delivering exhibitions
Contribute essays, edit, and manage the production of exhibition catalogues, and act as EditorUseful Links
