Description

Job Summary

Sibling Arts is looking for an experienced trans facilitator for their exciting upcoming creative trans/non-binary learning project - Forgotten Stories

Job Description

This summer term, Sibling Arts are delivering a very exciting project working with young people to explore queer, trans, and non-binary characters in myth and folklore.

Delivered in June and July this year, we will be bringing our successful workshop series to schools in London and Sheffield, encouraging young people to imagine their own mythical storytelling adventures, as well as pathways to careers in the creative sector.

We are looking for experienced facilitators, ideally with their own creative practice, to join our team for delivering this exciting project this year and beyond.

Please apply if you:

  • Identify as trans (binary or non-binary)
  • Have experience of making trans issues accessible in creative ways
  • Have your own creative practice (we will accept applications from strong educators who are strong on trans issues)
  • Have a basic or enhanced DBS (protest-related offenses are no issue)
  • Are up for jumping into facilitating an existing lesson plan
  • Are comfortable co-facilitating with someone else

Optional:

  • Have experience facilitating creative learning workshops to young people (ideally KS2 and 3)

Learning on the job:

We welcome applications from those with no experience working with under 18s who are interested in developing those skills. Though it's important to acknowledge that working in schools can be a challenging environment, we believe this is a chance to develop facilitation skills with support from an experienced Sibling Arts facilitator in this initial iteration.

Fee: £175 per day/workshop, travel costs to London Sheffield covered.

We are offering at least six days' work during school hours in June and July this year, with two extra days negotiated in September/October.

To work on this project, you must be available to attend training or deliver workshops on the following dates:

  • June 2nd, 4th, 6th, 13th, 30th, and July 7th

How to Apply

To apply please email [email protected] with a CV and up to two paragraphs explaining why you want to apply, and why you’d be a good fit for the project.

As an organisation that champions marginalised creatives and pedagogues, we particularly welcome applicants with queer identities, heritage from the global majority, disabilities, and other lived experiences of marginalisation.

Please apply by midnight on Thursday 15th May.

We will invite shortlisted applicants to an interview in the week commencing Monday 26th May.
