Immersive Octopus are recruiting an organised and enthusiastic Company Stage Manager to help bring alive a new family immersive adventurs; "ChristmasVille", in the historic city of Portsmouth.

Please note: Accommodation will be provided in Portsmouth throughout the engagement, but not for the London rehearsal week

This year, the seasons come alive in ChristmasVille. The audience enter giant 19-metre domes and are immersed in adventures where theatre, film and spectacular effects astound at every turn.

By day, families help awaken the festive magic of the Northern Lights in the Elf Emporium. By night, the domes transform into glowing destinations with festive bars, classic films and exciting experiences just for adults.

The Stage Management team will be responsible for ensuring that these immersive theatrical events are rehearsed and run smoothly, caring for actors, props, puppets whilst upholding the highest of artistic and technical standards.

The Company Stage Manager will hold responsibility for communication between departments, as well as between the performing company and General Manager, pastoral care, daily logistical organisation of the production, and administrative operations such as payroll and scheduling.

The contract is from 6th October 2025 to 4th January 2026 and will be based in the historic city of Portsmouth. Accommodation is provided for non-locals.

Technical Rehearsals (on-site): Tues 11th Nov - Sat 15th Nov

Previews: Mon 17th Nov - Wed 19th Nov

Press: Tues 20th Nov

Show Run Fri 21st Nov 2025 - Sun 4th Jan 2026

Rehearsal Location: St Annes Settlement, 1 Vauxhall Grove, London SW8 1TD

Performance Location: Gunwharf Quays House, Portsmouth, PO1 3TZ

For the 1st 2 weeks of the run, show days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only, with 4 days off between. We then switch to Tuesdays being the dark days for site (bar the Tuesday before Christmas).

Accommodation will be provided in Portsmouth throughout the engagement, but not for the London rehearsal week

Job Requirements

Experience of working as a company stage manager in immersive & site-specific theatre and/ or interactive experiences.

Excellent communication, administration, time management and organisational skills.

Adaptability and problem-solving skills, whilst remaining calm under pressure, and meeting deadlines.

Knowledge of Google Drive and Microsoft Office

Knowledge of event and theatre safety guidelines

Strong financial acumen

A strong ability to remain calm and react appropriately in high-paced environments with conflicting factors to manage.

Job Responsibilities

Carry out the duties associated of the role, for a first-class production.

Line manage & support the department team members, ensuring they are equipped to deliver the responsibilities of their roles, whilst working to excellent health and safety standards and ensuring that rehearsals & performances are carried out in safety.

Log & report department & performers working hours.

Overseeing rehearsal and show calls for cast and stage management team.

Creating & distributing call sheets, rehearsal reports, show reports & other standard stage management paperwork.

Input into the creation of rehearsal & tech schedules and ensuring they are followed.

Monitoring petty cash in conjunction with the ASM.

Liaising on marketing/publicity/press requests and supporting scheduling of any calls for these purposes.

Communicating with the Front of House and Operations teams to ensure show specifics are well managed.
