We  are currently recruiting for a freelance Company Stage Manager to work on our co-production of My Brother’s a Genius by Debris Stevenson.

Job Description

Due to a change in personal circumstances, we are recruiting for a freelance Company Stage Manager to work on our co-production of My Brother's a Genius by Debris Stevenson.

We're looking to appoint an experienced Touring CSM with special interest in Sound to work with the Production Manager to ensure the smooth running of rehearsals, tech, open and the run at Sheffield Playhouse and local schools, and subsequent tour to schools and theatres across the UK in Spring 2026.

Full engagement:

5th January 2026 to 29th March 2026

Option to split contract:

Rehearsals and Sheffield run: 5th January 2026 to 14th February 2026

Tour only: 23rd February to 29th March 2026 (with paid hand over days during w/c 9th Feb)

DATES AND LOCATIONS

Rehearsals will take place in Sheffield.

  • Pre-production: Autumn 2025

  • Rehearsals: 5th - 24th Jan 2026

  • Tech: 26th - 28th Jan 2026

  • Previews & Press: 28th - 30th Jan 2026

  • Sheffield run: 31st Jan - 14th Feb 2026

  • Holiday week: w/c 16th Feb 2026

  • Tour: 23rd February - 29th March 2026

FEE

£681 per week plus travel, accommodation and meal allowances.

CONTRACT

Your contract will be with Theatre Centre. We are an ITC Fair Work Approved Manager and use these contracts.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL

The CSM will drive the van, therefore applicants must be over the age of 25 and must have a clean driver's license.

Theatre Centre will require you to have a full enhanced DBS and will process and pay for this on your behalf.
