The Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington, South West London, is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and inspiring Choir Director to lead ManSong, our established male voice community choir. This freelance position offers a unique opportunity to work with a warm, inclusive group of singers in a vibrant arts venue known as the "Cathedral of Thames Valley." ManSong is a non-auditioned choir open to men of all backgrounds and abilities. It meets weekly on Monday evenings from 7-9pm during term time, providing a relaxed, welcoming space where participants connect through music and camaraderie. The choir sings an eclectic mix-from sea shanties to pop, world music to Georgian toasts-all taught by ear. The director plays a key role in fostering this supportive, creative environment. We are looking for someone with strong musical leadership, particularly in conducting and accompanying community choirs. You should be confident working with varied abilities and musical backgrounds, and comfortable teaching a wide-ranging repertoire that includes a cappella, folk, jazz, classical, and more. A collaborative and empathetic approach is essential, along with a passion for helping singers grow in confidence and skill. The role is freelance, paid at £45-55 per hour (based on rehearsal time), with additional fees for prep and events. A minimum one-year agreement is offered, beginning September 2025. Skilled in preparing supporting materials (sheet music, audio/video tracks) to assist with learning. Effective rehearsal planning and the ability to manage time and group dynamics to ensure engagement and progress.
