The Place is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic CAT Officer to join its renowned Centre for Advanced Training Programme.

Job Description

The Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) at The Place is part of the Department for Education's national Music and Dance Scheme. Established as one of a network of specialist dance centres, CAT was co-founded by The Place to provide high-quality training for talented young dancers aged 11 to 18. Through the MDS grant scheme, the programme supports up to 130 young people each year, giving them access to professional dance training that prepares them for progression into higher education, vocational dance pathways, and related fields of study. CAT serves as a key pathway into London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) and reports into the LCDS Senior Management Team.

The post holder plays a central role in ensuring the smooth operation and efficient administration of the programme. To provide a high-quality service, they will take responsibility for the efficient running of administrative and data systems and procedures on the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Programme.

The CAT Officer works closely with the CAT Senior Programme Manager, Assistant Manager and Trainee to ensure that the department operates effectively according to The Place policies, systems and procedures and ensures compliance in the following areas:

1. Operations and Administration including Data Management

2. Finance including audit

3. HR - Contracts and Payroll

SALARY

The salary for this position is £32,823 per annum.

CONTRACT TERMS

This is a 12-month, fixed-term contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week), including in-person Tuesday evenings and Saturdays during term time. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
KNOWLEDGE

  • Familiarity with GDPR and Data Protection regulations.

SKILLS

  • Understanding of financial systems and good numeracy skills.
  • Outstanding organisation skills.
  • Aptitude for building and developing administrative systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, databases and online systems.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Dance or Creative Arts Degree.
  • Experience of working in an administrative role.

ATTRIBUTES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
  • An understanding and interest in dance education, specifically with young people.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA
KNOWLEDGE

  • Training in data handling/ GDPR.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience of working in an education setting.

Job Responsibilities

OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION (INCLUDING DATA MANAGEMENT)

  • Responsible for developing administrative systems which help improve efficiencies in relation to student experience - from recruitment, induction, expenses, project activity and evaluation

BUSINESS PARTNERING: FINANCE (INCLUDING AUDIT)

  • Support the CAT Senior Programme Manager and Finance team to support the production and review financial reports to facilitate accurate budget forecasting

BUSINESS PARTNERING: HR (INCLUDING CONTRACTS AND PAYROLL)

  • In partnership with HR, draft and issue relevant casual staff contracts in line with The Place's policies and procedures

SAFEGUARDING AND COMPLIANCE

  • Act as DSO (Designated Safeguarding Officer) where appropriate following the safeguarding policy on reporting procedures

OTHER

  • Evening, weekend and intensive activities in support of the programme as required
