Job Description
This area has a rich industrial heritage and the new artwork will embody the vibrant, creative and resilient nature of some of the world-beating and innovative ventures and ideas that were born and nurtured here. The area's maritime and industrial history includes the first transatlantic cable (the internet of the 19th century) and a thriving rope and sail-making industry. Today, it's known for the O2 Arena and home to creative industries in the Peninsula Design District.
We are very open to inspiration and want to commission a truly iconic artwork with
presence. In developing their vision for the artwork, the artist must consider:
Visual theme: We are keen the artwork reflects the history of the area, its dynamism and its people.
Materials: We do not have specific requirements, other than they should be robust, durable and fit for purpose bearing in mind the area's exposed location, pollution
and the need to comply with all TfL's requirements, including on safety. For eg., TfL will only permit temporary anti-graffiti paint. They will not approve a design using materials that could harm the structure, environment or the public (chromium, chloride, sulphate etc) nor anything that would distract drivers or cause glare.Job Requirements
