Are you a musician, music educator, performer, composer, band, ensemble, storyteller, dancer or theatre-maker who features live music prominently in your work? Do you agree that music for children and young people doesn't need to be patronising, same-old, top-down or tokenistic? Do you want to make something musically inspiring, imaginative - or even a little challenging - for children, young people and their families? We think it's healthy to keep learning about new artists and possibilities, and to offer fresh opportunities to musicians and audiences alike. We're specifically looking for artists for Wildings Festival 2027 (August 13-15th 2027), and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts (University of Birmingham) - Jan 14th & Feb 11th. We produce and programme events and performances for children, young people, and families, from early years through to KS4, across venues, festivals, communities and schools. Our work and programmes are both ongoing throughout the year, and for specific festivals/dates, currently centred around the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. Audiences can range from a few dozen to a few hundred, free and ticketed. From folk to experimental electronics, classical strings to punk brass, flamenco to opera, ouds to koras, hip hop to bebop - and all the magical gaps in between - we're keen to hear from artists, creators, musicians, bands and ensembles. You might be established, early-career, new to younger audiences, or simply have a great idea and the right warmth, skill and imagination. - Wildlings Festival has performance slots available (45-60 minutes) on 14th & 15th August, for a range of ages 0 to 10. - For our programme at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham, we initially have two dates (14 Jan, 11 Feb) for soloists/duos, between 1100-1200 for an early-years performance for up to 100 children & their adults. Fees vary dependent on travel, group size etc, from MU hourly rate upwards We aim for everything we present to be warm, eclectic and genuinely welcoming. We're interested in artists, musicians and creative practitioners who can offer thoughtful, high-quality live music experiences for children, young people and families, both for Wildlings Festival and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham. (If you are unavailable for these dates, we would also would be happy to hear from you for our other programming throughout the year, where sets can vary in duration, scale and target audience ages). You might already have experience in schools, festivals, venues, community settings or participatory work, but we're also happy to hear from people who are newer to this area and have the right warmth, imagination and musical quality. We think the best gigs for young people are usually varied, flexible, inspiring, good-humoured, energetic, not too cheesy and not too stuffy. Easy! New experiments, instruments, sounds, ideas, noises, cultures and voices welcome. Lovely music and personality go a long way. Please send a short message with a little about what you do - or could do - plus any relevant experience, nice words about you, where you’re based, and links to videos, images, music or examples of your work. Please don’t make it too long. There’s another human at the other end who has to read it. We may not reply straight away, as there could be quite a few messages, but we’ll look at everything sent and will be in touch! Closing date 26/11/26 - midnight.Job Summary
