Job Description
The role requires a deep understanding of what it takes to make content and shows across the sector, informed by experience. An experienced project and budget manager, the postholder will require flexibility in thinking and practice to ensure plans develop in line with NYT ambition and in response to funding opportunities.
It is currently envisaged that the role will include responsibility for the following:
Backstage and technical training lead within NYT, identifying opportunities to provide meaningful structured and practical experience to our members.
Devise plans to attract new Backstage members, responding to the needs of young people and with an emphasis on creating inclusive opportunities for those who may have faced barriers to participation in the arts.
Lead on management, delivery and measurement of impact of our existing programmes currently including Ignite, Summerversity and our range of Backstage intake courses.
Develop programmes as required to respond to opportunities for delivery of Bootcamps / Tech REP and our external partnerships / Creative Careers / work experience.
Work with our accredited courses team to develop new accredited courses in backstage training in partnership with Further Education Colleges and Adult Education funding, or beyond.
Develop partnerships with other venues locally and nationally to enhance the opportunities available to young people including our membership for development of specialist skills.
Develop NYT's voice in sector skills practice and development including via national bodies and sector specialism events.
Advocate for youth opportunity, progression and employability training across forums creating tangible, accessible, inclusive opportunities.Job Requirements
A backstage specialist or producer with a breadth of experience
within the creative or cultural sector
At least four years' experience in a creative role within Theatre, the creative sector or in the design and delivery of skills development programmes for young people.
Significant experience leading training programmes in a range of
settings
A producer or project manager with direct experience of facilitation to work alongside NYT Associates
Proven experience managing budgets for income and expenditure to targets
Proven experience managing freelancers and volunteers
Effective project management/producing skills and experience of
managing high profile partnerships
Effective strategic working driving campaigns from short to long term
Direct experience working creatively with young people
Deep understanding of inclusive creative practice and equitable
delivery and commitment to access and inclusion
