Job Summary

As the Building Manager, you will be the main contact for the safe and efficient running of BACKLITs building.

Job Description

You will coordinate repairs, maintenance and compliance, work closely with the Co-Directors on the Capital Project. You will also oversee logistics for events, exhibitions, and space hire.

Job Requirements

Skills/attributes

Strong understanding of H&S, risk assessments, COSHH, and safe working practices.

Practical skills in basic repairs and troubleshooting.

Organised, able to prioritise tasks and keep accurate records.

Confident communicator with contractors, colleagues, and suppliers.

Problem-solving and proactive approach.

Good IT skills (spreadsheets, booking systems, logs).

Ability to coordinate and supervise contractors and freelance staff.

Commitment to sustainability and wellbeing in the workplace.

Essential Experience

Building operations/facilities management experience, ideally in arts, cultural or multi-use buildings.

Coordinating repairs, maintenance programmes, and contractors.

Implementing and monitoring H&S procedures, including incident reporting and compliance checks.

Supporting capital/refurbishment projects and liaising with contractors.

Managing inventories of tools, AV equipment, and hazardous substances.
