We’re looking for a hardworking and proactive Associate Producer to join the producing team for RECEPTION a new musical premiering at Slung Low, Leeds this summer. A significant part of the role will be focussed on marketing strategy.

Job Description

RECEPTION is a new musical premiering at Slung Low, The Warehouse in Holbeck, Leeds this August (22 Aug - 6 Sep). The musical uses the catalogue of David Gedge and his bands The Wedding Present and Cinerema. Gedge founded indie band, The Wedding Present in Leeds in 1985.

We're looking for a hardworking and proactive Associate Producer to join the production alongside our existing Associate Producer. This role will have a strong focus on marketing, taking a lead on the marketing strategy, working with the marketing team and partners to hit weekly and monthly sales targets. We're looking for someone who will take 'a seat at the table', involved in key decision-making throughout the production. The Associate Producer will be confident being a key point of contact on site for production team, company and stakeholders, acting as a representative of the Producer.

This is a fixed-fee freelance contract. The workload is expected to be spread across approximately 20-25 days from June to September, with intensive on-site work required in August.

Fee: £3,000

Location: Remote with in-person attendance in Leeds required (Leeds-based preferable)

Key Dates: Must be available for in-person attendance from 11/08 - 26/08 (Good availability across August is essential)

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Proven success marketing live events in either theatre, music or immersive sector
  • Experience in a producing role for small-scale / fringe theatre.
  • Strong people skills, building relationships and managing challenging situations.
  • Ability to manage and supervise a team of people effectively.
  • Ambitious, keen to learn and take on challenges.
  • Highly organised and proactive.

Desirable

  • Experience with musical theatre.
  • Experience working with non-professional / community ensembles.
  • Experience working in non-traditional / immersive settings.
  • Experience working on larger, (likely commercial) productions as a production assistant or similar role.
  • Hospitality experience.
  • Knowledge and awareness of local cultural landscape and connections with relevant organisations.

Job Responsibilities

Production

  • Supporting Production & Stage Management teams to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Supporting casting, contracting and communication with the company and agents as necessary.
  • Supporting with key general management tasks (tracking and reconciling expenditure, scheduling, booking travel and accommodation etc.)
  • Coordinating various elements of Press Night.

Marketing

  • Lead strategy to effectively promote the production.
  • Form partnerships with organisations and individuals to promote the show (e.g. local businesses, local 'influencers', high profile fans of the band).
  • Supporting the creation of engaging content.
  • Meticulous tracking of sales data and analysis of marketing activity in line with sales targets.

Fundraising

  • Supporting the securing of sponsorship through local businesses.
  • Faciliating opportunities to communicate and connect with financial supporters in the run up to, and during the show to enhance those relationships.
