Description

Job Description

Reece Sibbald Productions is seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) with stage crewing responsibilities for our 2025 Christmas pantomime, Snow White, at the newly restored Roxy Theatre, Leadgate. This is a historic production marking the grand reopening of the venue after a full Art Deco restoration - and the first pantomime to grace its stage in over 90 years.

The ASM will support the Stage Manager and technical team in ensuring the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances, with hands-on duties backstage during the show.

The Assistant Stage Manager will play a key role in the backstage operation of the production. This includes handling props, setting and striking scenery, assisting with scene changes, and supporting quick changes and performer needs. You'll work as part of a tight-knit technical team to ensure all transitions are safe, efficient, and seamless.

You must be available for:

Rehearsals and tech from 4th December 2025 (9-12 hours per day)
All performances from 16th - 28th December 2025 (3.5 hours per show, 22 performances)

Fee starting from £1,300, varying upon experience of the applicant.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as an ASM or stage crew in live theatre, ideally in pantomime or musical theatre.
  • Comfortable working with props, scenery, and fast backstage environments.
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills.
  • Good level of physical fitness and willingness to carry out manual handling.
  • Calm under pressure with good problem-solving instincts.
  • Availability from 4th December to 28th December 2025, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of backstage safety and working in a live performance setting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Stage Manager in rehearsals, including setting up the rehearsal space, tracking props and scenery, and note-taking.
  • Prepare, maintain, and manage all props and stage furniture.
  • Assist in rigging, moving, and striking set pieces before, during, and after performances.
  • Execute scene changes during live performances under the direction of the Stage Manager.
  • Support performers with backstage needs and quick changes.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient backstage environment.
  • Help coordinate get-in and get-out if required.
