Job Summary

We are looking for an Assistant Producer to join the HandleBards for our 2026 season.

Job Description

Job Description

Role: Assistant Producer
Contract: 12-month fixed-term, with potential for extension
Hours: 21 hours per week* (0.6 FTE / 3 days per week)
Salary: £18,000 (pro rata based on £30,000 FTE)
Location: London (hybrid working - mix of co-working space, remote, and touring) Reports to: Producer
Start date: January 2026 (negotiable)

*Working evenings & weekends will be required during the tours for which time in lieu will be granted. No extra payments for additional hours worked.

Purpose of the role

The Assistant Producer will work part-time to support the Producer with the day-to-day running of The HandleBards. The role will include in-person working at a central London co-working space, working from home, and will also involve visiting productions on tour (trips away varying from 2-7 days).

As a seasonal touring company some periods will be busier than others e.g. tech periods, production weeks and opening weeks. The Assistant Producer will work for three days per week on average across the year. The Producer will plan working schedules with the Assistant Producer, allowing for flexibility of other work alongside the role.

In 2026 we will be touring two shows to outdoor venues across the UK. We're also currently gearing up to tour our first midscale co-production of The Tempest, so this is a particularly exciting time to join us as we take our first step into mid-scale touring.
