West Sussex Music is an independent charity that delivers high quality music education to the schools, children, and young people in West Sussex. We are the largest provider of music education in the county, engaging with over 30,000 young people annually and working collaboratively with schools and families to ensure access to inspirational musical opportunities. Based in our central Horsham office, the postholder will provide administrative support for events, activities and music centres, as well as assisting with our social media and promotional content. This is a full time, varied role with lots of opportunity to be hands on with projects and events!

This collaborative role is a challenging and varied position; it involves working closely with music leaders within West Sussex Music to produce enriching and accessible opportunities for children and young people.

You will need to have a positive attitude to equality, diversity and inclusion and be a team player, enthusiastic about working with a range of stakeholders and staff.

You will be based at our Horsham office at Sanford House, 5 Medwin Walk, Horsham, RH12 1AG and will also support our activities at locations around the county.

Starting salary: £25,500 per annum

Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours/week

Job Requirements

  • Diligent and resourceful; this role is ideally suited for a positive, friendly, and hardworking individual who is keen to "get stuck in" and develop the opportunities this position offers.
  • Highly organised and motivated, an independent worker able to use their own initiative and work collaboratively.
  • Highly competent with Microsoft 365, website (WordPress), and social media platforms; training will be given on our CRM system (SpeedAdmin).
  • Confident in using social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter) to promote events and engage with audiences; experience with content creation tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Canva etc) is desirable.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent presentation skills in both the written word, face to face, phone, and social media content.
  • An ambassador with excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Conversant with the music education environment including the needs of children and young people, their families, teachers, and stakeholder

Job Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative support for events, music centres, holiday activities, and singing projects.
  • Supporting the promotion of events and activities through social media and digital platforms, including creating and scheduling engaging content in line with our brand and values.
  • Assisting at out of hours and Saturday weekly music centres around the county.
  • Assisting at holiday activities, workshops, events, and concerts.

Please note

  • The nature of this flexible role will require regular evening and Saturday working.
  • A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.
