Job Summary

Rosetta Arts is expanding its remit and from January 2026 onwards, we will take full occupancy of our current building to develop into a creative campus for Newham.

Job Description

The offer on the creative campus will include office/rehearsal/workshop space, a gallery, training kitchen, photo studio, dark room, fully equipped pottery studio, music studio with fully-sound-proof recording box, event space, green room, car parking, and more.

During September - January, we will prepare for starting these new operations in January 2026.

During this period, the Artist Studio Manager will be responsible for preparing and planning all the systems and frameworks in readiness for hires.

This will include deciding on the kind of contracts, duration, terms and conditions, H&S rules, studio handbook & policies, call out and marketing, developing time schedules and work schedules for the building maintenance and operation.

The role will also prepare for future commercial hires and events.

Job Requirements

  • Past experience in a similar role
  • Experience of supporting external hires or organising events
  • Ability to build positive and effective relationships with a diverse range of communities, artists and stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding, as well as health and safety. Experience of writing risk assessments
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise and make decisions independently
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of people
  • Ability to manage information systematically and accurately
  • Confident IT skills across Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Health & Safety trained
  • Understanding of contracts and budget management
  • A positive and collaborative approach to working within a small team
  • An understanding of contemporary art and working with artists
  • A commitment to Rosetta Art Centre's Equal Opportunities policy, practical awareness

Job Responsibilities

  • Take necessary steps to prepare for filling artist studios
  • Advertising and creating a waiting list
  • Show prospective artists and organisations the available spaces
  • Prepare a framework and systems for hire of spaces
  • Draw up contracts and other paperwork for hire arrangements/associate membership
  • Set up a system for payment
  • Manage all building operational and management issues around H&S, security, opening times.

Studio Management

  • Create a studio handbook with necessary policies and processes
  • Together with RA's Programme Coordinator, be a point of contact for all enquiries from current and prospective artists and managing the admin email account
  • Coordinate with Newham Council around ensuring all maintenance and testing is up to date, include fire/smoke/intruder alarms, PAT testing, water testing, boiler service, etc
