Job Description

Severn Arts is inviting visual artists to apply for a collaborative mural project based at Active Youth Outreach Services (AYOS) in Stourport-on-Severn. Commission is £6k.

We are looking to recruit an artist-facilitator to plan and deliver a series of fun, engaging and inclusive co-design workshops with young people accessing AYOS on The Walshes Estate in Stourport.

The project places emphasis on collaboration and co-creation, supporting young people to actively shape the space they use. The finished artwork should reflect participants' ideas and interests and contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment.

Project Objectives
- To engage approximately 10 to 15 young people aged 8 - 17 in positive activity over the school summer holiday
- To help participants develop creative skills and confidence through structured co-design workshops and measured by participant feedback
- To transform the outdoor space at AYOS by co-creating an artwork with young people, giving them ownership through active involvement in the design and installation

The artist will be expected to:
- Consult with participants through creative workshops that encourage discussion, idea-sharing and experimentation
- Gather and develop young people's ideas into a cohesive mural concept
- Create a draft design based on participants' contributions
- Present the design back to the group and support young people to comment on, refine and shape the final artwork

An online info session will take place on Wednesday 15 April 2026 at 2pm. An Open Evening will be held on Wednesday 15 April 2026 at 6pm at the location. Artists can view the space, meet project partners and participants, and find out more.

To register your interest in attending either session, please contact Jude Wild at [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 13 April 2026.

For further information about this commission, please contact [email protected] to book a call with Community Producer, Jen Loffman.
