Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Art Technician to provide practical, technical, and creative support to our Art Department. You will play a vital role in ensuring that staff and students have a safe, well-equipped, and inspiring environment to learn and create.

Salary: £30,118 -£31,107 per annum actual salary
Weeks: 39 weeks (term time + 3 days)
Hours: 35

Main Purpose

Provide high-quality technical and practical support to the Art Department, ensuring a safe, organised, and inspiring environment for creative learning. Support teaching by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting in lessons across Art, Photography, and Textiles.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Practical Support

  • Maintain and safely operate specialist tools and equipment.

  • Prepare and deliver materials and resources for lessons, exhibitions, and displays.

  • Assist teachers during practical sessions and demonstrate safe use of equipment.

  • Offer 1:1 or small-group technical support and help with exhibitions and displays.

Health & Safety

  • Maintain safe working practices in line with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.

  • Prepare and update risk assessments and ensure proper storage of materials.

  • Report maintenance issues and arrange staff safety training.

Resources & Inventory

  • Monitor and order art materials, checking deliveries and stock levels.

  • Keep accurate loan and inventory records.

  • Liaise with suppliers for cost-effective or donated materials.

Creative & Educational Support

  • Support and curate art exhibitions and displays within and beyond the school.

  • Accompany students on trips and workshops; assist with digital and creative projects.

  • Lead small tutorials to develop student technical skills.

General Responsibilities

  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.

  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Build positive relationships and share technical expertise across the department.

  • Participate in training and contribute to the wider ethos of the school.
