The Southbank Art Company is a friendly independent art supplies and picture framing shop, serving the community for 26 years. We are looking for a friendly, reliable art shop & framing assistant to join our small team for 2 to 3 days a week, including Saturdays.

Job Description

We are looking for an art shop and framing assistant to join us for 2-3 days per week, including every Saturday.

£14.80 per hour (London Living Wage)

This is a varied role, primarily working on the shop floor but also assisting with our framing service.

The role will include:

Helping customers choose from our wide range of professional and student art materials
Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service
Operating the till and processing sales
Receiving deliveries, replenishing stock and maintaining displays
Answering customer enquiries
Assisting customers with framing orders
Fitting artwork into frames
Handling customers' artwork carefully
Keeping the shop and work areas clean and organised

Full training will be provided in our products, systems and framing processes.

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone who is reliable, friendly and confident with customers, but also practical and happy getting involved with hands on work. Good attention to detail is essential, as is being comfortable with measurements and basic maths. You should be organised, and enjoy learning about new products and processes.

Requirements
Friendly, approachable and someone who enjoys interacting with customers.

Good communication and customer service skills.

An interest in art, art materials and stationery
Comfortable with measurements, basic calculations and practical problem solving.

Good attention to detail and able to work accurately.

Organised, reliable and punctual.

Comfortable handling artwork and materials carefully.

Willing to learn and take on new skills.

Previous retail experience is desirable.

Experience with art materials, framing or a creative retail environment would be an advantage.

Full training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

The role is varied and includes:

Serving customers and providing advice on art materials, stationery and framing.

Processing sales and handling customer enquiries.

Taking measurements and assisting with framing and mount orders.

Frame fitting, including glazing, mounts and backing.

Receiving deliveries, organising stock and replenishing displays.

Preparing customer orders for collection or delivery.

Keeping the shop clean, tidy and well presented.

Helping process online orders
