Job Summary

Ryan Gander is looking for an Animatronics Coordinator to specialise in overseeing animatronic artworks, including researching, developing, testing and repairing them to the highest standard before they leave the studio, alongside other daily production tasks as part of a small, dynamic studio team.

Job Description

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Researching and developing new animatronic artworks under the guidance of the Artist and Studio Director.
- Daily testing and monitoring of new and existing animatronic artworks.
- Identifying and resolving issues directly linked to the animatronic artworks, liaising with the fabricator as necessary.
- Organising daily schedule independently to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Collaborating across all levels to creatively problem solve and express ideas with confidence.
- Recording all stages of production and producing installation and maintenance documents based on your knowledge of the works, using existing studio templates.
- Monitoring and updating locations of artworks.
- Condition reporting on artworks.
- Liaising with galleries, institutions and clients to advise on installing, maintaining and trouble shooting artworks, once they have left the studio.
- Liaising with galleries to arrange packing and shipping of artwork.
- Assisting colleagues with the fabrication, packing, installing, condition checking and moving of all types of artworks.
- Installing and packing all types of artwork at the studio and also off-site locations.
- Occasional travel to install artworks (to be agreed in advance).

Essential Skills / Experience:
- Prior experience / knowledge of animatronics.
- Ability to collaborate across all levels to creatively problem solve and express ideas with
confidence.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Highly organised, methodical approach and comfortable recording all stages of production.
- A strong sense of professionalism and discretion.

Desirable Skills / Experience:
- Working knowledge of Arduino coding and servo control systems.
- Previous experience working directly with an artist.
- A love and appreciation of contemporary art.
- University degree in a creative subject
