Description

Job Summary

The London Animation Project is a creative education company that delivers high-quality animation after-school clubs across London primary schools. Our mission is to make animation accessible, engaging, and inspiring for every child — helping them learn storytelling, teamwork, and creative thinking.

Job Description

We are a creative company that runs after school clubs for KS2. We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Freelance Animation Tutors to lead engaging after-school animation clubs for children aged 7-11.

You'll guide students through the process of planning, designing, and producing their own animated short films using drawing, Lego, Play-Doh, and stop-motion software.

This is an ideal opportunity for artists, animators, filmmakers, or educators who enjoy working with young people and want to inspire the next generation of storytellers.

All equipment, lesson plans and learning resources are provided and insured by us.

Job Requirements

No formal qualifications are required. All we ask is that you:

  • Are confident working with young people
  • Have great communication skills
  • Can commit to the contract period
  • Have a fun, inspiring and engaging attitude towards working with young people and the arts.
  • As an added bonus, you will have worked in or studied photography, animation or videography and have worked with young people before, but there is no requirement for you to be a teacher.

Because you'll be working with young people, you'll need some documentation. Don't worry if you don't have them yet, we can help you obtain the necessary documents. You'll need:

  • Enhanced DBS certificate
  • Public liability insurance
  • Safeguarding certificate
  • Paediatric first aid certificate
  • Prohibition from teaching check

Job Responsibilities

During the Autumn Term 2025 (Sept - Dec), you'll be available 3-5 days between Monday to Friday to deliver the lessons. Typically, lessons are 60-90 minutes long, and start around 3:00pm. Our clubs run for 10 to 14 weeks.

Minimum expected weekly working hours are 4.5-6 hours and maximum 7.5-9 hours this includes teaching time and outside of lesson tasks (uploading files, weekly meetings etc)

In addition to delivering and preparing for the lessons, you'll undertake some basic administration (eg uploading the children's work) and attend a short online meeting each week to review your previous lesson and plan for the lessons ahead. We'll pay you £60 per club session on a freelance basis. Of course, because this is a freelance position, you'll be responsible for declaring your taxes and national insurance.
