Workforce Development Officer, Bucks County Museum


Job Description

  • Creating a workforce development strategy in consultation with staff and volunteers at Bucks County Museum Trust

  • Co-ordinating volunteer activity across the two Bucks County Museum Trust sites

  • Developing new front of house, learning, community engagement and other volunteering roles

  • Developing, updating and delivering all volunteer management processes

  • Dealing with volunteering enquiries, interviews, inductions and placements within Bucks County Museum sites and activities

  • Briefing paid staff on volunteer management processes and regular liaison with supervisors of volunteers to ensure good working relationships

  • Collating and sending regular staff/volunteer news bulletins

  • Developing good networks with staff and volunteers in other relevant and local museums / heritage organisations¬†

  • Organising CPD opportunities for department teams of staff and volunteers to visit other museums and heritage sites / short placements in other organisations/ mentoring opportunities

  • Organising in house training opportunities for staff and volunteers

  • Organising social occasions for staff and volunteers

  • Assisting with additional fundraising for workforce development as needed

  • Embedding evaluation at each stage of the projects using Arts Council criteria

  • Providing regular reports and updates for the Arts Council on progress

  • Contributing to museum sector sharing days on workforce development as necessary
