EMCCAN seeks a Project Co-ordinator
September to December 2019 (part-time 4 days a week) Salary £27,000 pro.rata
East Midlands Caribbean Carnival Arts Network seeks to employ a Project Co-ordinator for an "EXPLORE and TEST " programme funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation. The project will look intensively at two models of practice for carnival arts delivery in schools. The project will influence policy and practice for Emccan's management, board and carnival artists.
We will explore the "Loose parts theory" in a Lincolnshire school working with disabled children and will take a "whole school national curriculum" approach to carnival arts delivery in a Derbyshire mainstream primary school. We will test different ways of working, which will inform policy and proactive for the future of carnival arts education programme, regionally and nationally. The post-holder will be expected to travel to the Derby base at Derby West Indian Centre, Nottingham office at Sneinton Market, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire schools. Some work may be flexible and working from home is possible with prior arrangement.
Emccan is an umbrella organisation made up of four Caribbean Carnivals in the East Midlands; Nottingham, Derby, Northampton and Leicester. It is a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) funded by Arts Council England and delivers four Caribbean Carnivals, a regional Costume competition, a UK Tour, a joint publication and other collaborative initiatives.
