The Council are currently embarking on a significant 2 year transformation programme across our Library Service underpinned by a number of strategic objectives which will result in delivering more within a reduced budget.  The programme will take innovation to a new level whilst we explore delivery options for the service and provide sound platforms for future growth and funding potential.


Key Purpose of the Post:


  • Our Libraries Manager will have responsibility for the efficient and effective functioning, management, promotion and development of Bradford District’s libraries which includes 10 Council libraries, and 19 community run libraries. 

  • The role will focus on the development and implementation of relevant strategies and plans to ensure a key role for libraries in the district.  To maximise the potential of the service as a catalyst for lifelong learning, health and wellbeing, tourism, skills development and community cohesion, with a focus on unlocking our potential for economic growth and regeneration, whilst continuing to meet our obligations under our Lifelong Learning agenda and Children and Young People’s Plan.

We are looking for a dynamic and resourceful individual with a good track record of delivering to deadlines and performance targets with strong stakeholder management skills to support effective staff and trade union relationships through a significant period of change.

The successful candidate will be supported by the Assistant Director and our Change Reassurance Team which is dedicated to Libraries and will be available throughout the project.
