Job Summary

The Cultural Spring has an exciting opportunity for a creative individual/organisation to collaborate on a commission exploring storytelling as a means to both celebrate and challenge communities.

Job Description

Sunderland's Community Cohesion Steering Group, in partnership with The Cultural Spring, is seeking a creative or organisation to collaborate on a commission exploring storytelling as a means to both celebrate and challenge communities. This exciting opportunity involves engaging with a diverse range of individuals from across Sunderland, focusing on building stronger communities through creativity, expression and connection.

This project aims to strengthen communities affected by the public disorder in Summer 2024, using diverse art forms to co-create and engage local people, highlighting narratives surrounding immigration and lived experiences, and addressing misinformation both online and offline.

The commission welcomes proposals across all art-forms and joint submissions are encouraged.

While preference will be given to creatives based in Sunderland, those from the North East are also welcome to apply.

There is an expectation that the appointed creative will work with a minimum of 200 participants and 1500 audiences (including 1000 digital audiences).

Deadline for applications: 12 noon Monday 6th October 2025
