Head of Governance

£40,000 per annum

Full-time, 40 hours per week


The National Portrait Gallery is looking for a Head of Governance to manage corporate governance and the effective delivery of the Gallery’s non-executive and executive governance and decision making processes and structures.

The Head of Governance will be responsible for maintaining the Gallery’s internal policy framework and contributing to policy issues and developments that affect the Gallery and the broader arts and heritage sector. They will also assist the Chief Financial Officer on the development and co-ordination of the Gallery’s strategy and planning, and risk processes, as well as the development and implementation of an internal communications strategy and plan.

The successful candidate will have a relevant professional qualification (i.e. ICSA) or demonstrable equivalent experience as well as have previous significant experience of corporate governance in the charity/public sector alongside up to date knowledge on government trends, regulations and best practice.
