Freelance Artists for Arts and Health project, High Peak Community Arts

Background:

Project eARTh (Environmental Art and Health) is a project for adults experiencing mental distress or other long term conditions or physical impairments.  

We run projects in which the participants work collectively to create artworks – usually  for the community – installed in public spaces, indoors or out.

Each project is led by an experienced professional community artist, supported by mental health staff and volunteers.

We have 2 groups, one in New Mills and one in Buxton – currently we are looking for projects for the Buxton group  –URC church, Buxton, Mondays 12.30 – 3pm , from June 2019 to end of May 2020. Please only apply if these are feasible for you. The Buxton group also include adults with mild learning disabilities.

What we need from you:

1.    No longer than 2 sides of A4 to include a description of the project, and a budget.

  • Art form(s) / Project Idea
  • Final product – and where it might be installed / distributed in the High Peak    
  • How many sessions with the group will be needed (each one is two and a half hours contact time, plus setting up / clearing away) @ £105
  • How many half days ‘background work’ needed. Extra time to prepare or  ‘finish’ work, install etc…..e.g firing ceramics, editing / producing music tracks, installing a sculpture, framing / mounting visual arts, typing up poetry / prose….@£105
  • Cost of materials / equipment needed
  • Cost of production / installation if appropriate
  • Your transport costs. We can pay 40p per mile /public transport costs to attend project, up to a maximum of £30 per session.
  • Brief outline of your relevant experience.
  • DBS – all artists need DBS certificate within 3 yrs (CRB as was). We can arrange for cost of £55.
  • Please note – our total budget for projects each year is approx. £30,000 between both groups, of which approximately £9,000 is for participants’ travel.

The briefs will be read by steering group of partners and participants, from which we choose projects –interviewing artists who are new to us.
