Foundation Year Administrator, Royal Drawing School

The Royal Drawing School is looking to appoint an efficient, effective and personable individual who can undertake the administration of the School’s Foundation Year Programme.

One of the Prince’s Charities, The Royal Drawing School is an independent educational charity raising the standard and profile of drawing through teaching and practice. What started off as a single, small teaching studio fifteen years ago is now an independent educational charity, serving 1,000 students each week. The School runs four studios across London and works with most of the major London art galleries. There are four main programmes running alongside the Foundation Year: postgraduate; International Artists Residencies in the US, India and Italy; revenue generating Public Courses for adults; and a programme for children.

The Foundation Year, a one-year, full time course based in Trinity Buoy Wharf, Docklands, is aimed primarily at school leavers and provides students with access to BA Art and Design courses. There is a cohort of 45 students who are expected to attend the course 5 days a week.

As the Foundation Year Administrator you will implement effective administrative systems, ensuring the Programme is highly organised and efficient. A key part of the role will be acting as the first point of contact for all students, models, members of the public and staff. Working closely with the Foundation Year Senior Coordinator you will provide support across all aspects of the running of this busy course.

This is a role that requires a highly organised individual who has exceptional communication skills. Working in a fast paced environment, you will have the ability to think on your feet, be adaptable and flexible and have a professional and sensitive manner in dealing with people at all levels.

Previous administrative experience is essential. You should have experience of working in an educational or artistic environment, an understanding of Foundation studies in Art and Design would be desirable.

The role is part-time, 4 days/week.
