Facilities Manager, The Horniman Museum & Gardens

We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative Facilities Manager to lead the day to day care, operation and maintenance of a much loved estate. This is an exciting opportunity for a pro-active and positive individual to work at a unique and diverse visitor attraction incorporating historic grade II* listed buildings, gardens, living collections and collections storage facilities. You will work with our contractors, in-house cleaning and security teams to ensure the facilities for every visit, work day, event and exhibition are exceptional, enabling the estate to operate safely, efficiently and sustainably.

This is an exciting time to join the Horniman, as we finalise our ten year framework plan, begin the development of a natural worlds project and enact our sustainability action plan. We will develop your heritage sector experience through training, sector support across other national museums, project management opportunities and daily work in a conservation focussed environment.

You will have a technical knowledge of building fabric (ideally historic), mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations alongside sound health and safety awareness, good inter-personal, communication and organisational skills. You will have significant practical experience in the field of buildings, security and infrastructure management for a heritage / visitor attraction or other publicly visited building, e.g. educational, healthcare or commercial environment.  You will bring rigour, problem solving and innovation to all that you do.
