Executive Director, Candoco Dance Company

Description

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced individual to work in collaboration with the Artistic Co-Directors and take the lead on strategic planning for Candoco, articulating and aligning our vision internally and externally in accordance with our mission to produce creatively ambitious and high-quality contemporary dance. The role assumes joint responsibility with the Artistic Co-Directors for all aspects of the company’s strategy and operations and reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Candoco Dance Company is the company of disabled and non-disabled dancers. We create excellent and profound experiences for audiences and participants that excite, challenge and broaden perceptions of art and ability, and place people and collaboration at the heart of our work.

We commission and produce work by world-class choreographers for our core company of seven dancers, which we tour nationally and across the globe. We deliver an extensive learning programme to provide access to the highest quality of dance, either as part of a developing career or for pure enjoyment.

The Executive Director acts as Candoco’s ambassador to a wide diversity of audiences, championing the company’s unique approach to dance. The post holder will build on the company’s success, ensuring that our bold and exciting commissioning strategy and programme of work is secured into the future, and that public engagement with the work continues to grow and deepen.

You will be joining the company at an exciting time following the recent appointment of our new Artistic Co-Directors, Ben Wright and Charlotte Darbyshire. In Summer/Autumn 2018, the company will be touring productions by Yasmeen Godder, Hetain Patel, Arlene Phillips and Alexander Whitley, throughout the UK and internationally.
