Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced web developer with a strong background in WordPress, HTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery, who can play a crucial role in managing and enhancing our two main websites: a-m-a.co.uk and culturehive.co.uk.

Job Description

The Web Developer and Systems Manager will help design and implement systems that integrate our third-party services and streamline our workflows and work closely with the team on developing new products and services to help achieve our goals.

They will take ownership of both front-end and back-end development while helping shape our core systems and infrastructure. This will be a very collaborative role, and would suit someone who's looking to take ownership of digital projects from start to end.

Job Requirements

  • You will have knowledge of WordPress development, including creating websites and microsites
  • You will have knowledge of website accessibility and responsive design
  • You will have experience creating child themes, custom templates, and plugin customisation
  • You will be confident in using PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • You will have experience of converting designs or storyboards into functional websites
  • You will have experience of implementing website security
  • You will have a solid understanding of SEO best practices
  • You will have testing and debugging skills using browser-based tools
  • You will have experience using Google Analytics 4 (and ideally Google Tag Manager)

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing AMA systems: working closely with the AMA team to understand requirements, and turning these into solutions using existing and new systems
  • Website redesign and development: leading the redesign of the AMA website with supplied storyboards and assets provided by the AMA team. This will include theme changes and the installation of a child theme
  • Adding new features and improving functionality: collaborating with the AMA team to design and implement new features, focusing on usability and accessibility
  • Supporting environmental goals: ensuring the websites are built and running in a green way, working to support our sustainability goals, whilst keeping performance high
  • Managing security: maintaining a high level of security on the websites and keeping the AMA team up-to-date with security features and knowledge
